Our monitoring tool is a complete frontend to RRDTool, an industry standard databasing scheme for collecting and storing data stream information over long periods of time. It stores all of the necessary information to create graphs and populate them with data in a MySQL database. 

 

The frontend is completely PHP driven. It handles the data gathering along with being able to maintain graphs, data sources, and archives in its database. Many different plug-ins provide useful functionality such as alarm/alert of predefined thresholds being met on devices, up/down status alerts, and over/under performance of hard drives and CPUs, just to name a few.
